Receiving chiropractic care during your pregnancy can reduce pregnancy symptoms and make for a smoother delivery and recovery. Here at Back to Health Center, we offer the Webster technique for expectant mothers.
As the baby grows and develops, the uterus and abdomen extend and pressure on the lower back is increased. This can pull vertebrae out of alignment, cause the abdomen to overly extend, increase the curvature of the back and place extra strain and stress on muscles, ligaments and connective tissues. All of these misalignments, injuries and symptoms can be reduced with gentle prenatal chiropractic care.
Our chiropractor in Alexandria is familiar with performing chiropractic adjustments during every stage of pregnancy, and the Webster technique has proven to be safe and effective for correcting spinal misalignments during pregnancy.
The Webster technique is a variance of the diversified adjustment and was first used by Dr. Larry Webster, who was a pediatric chiropractor and International Chiropractic Pediatric Association founder. This technique utilizes a specific type of sacral analysis and manual adjustment technique to keep the SI joint in its proper alignment throughout pregnancy.
The Webster technique is safe to use for prenatal chiropractic care to keep the Sacroiliac Joint or SI joint in its proper alignment. The SI joint sits just atop the pelvis. When it is misaligned, it can cause lower back pain, hip pain and stiffness and pain in the thighs or groin. In pregnant women, a misalignment in this joint can increase lower back, hip and leg pain, and it can limit the room the baby has to move and grow. A misalignment in this joint may even contribute to breech births.
Our pregnancy chiropractor in Alexandria can help reduce your pregnancy symptoms, general discomfort and pain with the Webster technique, and it can be used from the beginning of your pregnancy into the eighth month. Pregnant women who receive regular chiropractic adjustments experience less back, hip, pelvic and leg pain and have a smoother pregnancy overall.
Keeping the SI joint in proper alignment can also help give your baby the room he or she needs to grow and develop. Women who receive adjustments into their eighth month experience fewer breech births because keeping the SI joint properly aligned helps the baby moves into the head-down position. This makes for a smoother delivery that is less stressful on the mother and baby.
We also offer chiropractic adjustments after the birth of your baby, which can help you recover faster from the delivery and reduce postpartum pain and discomfort so that you can focus your attention on the new addition to your family.
In addition to prenatal chiropractic care, we also offer massage therapy, acupuncture and pediatric chiropractic care.
