Here at Back to Health Center, we offer family wellness through a variety of chiropractic techniques. One of our most utilized techniques is the Thompson Technique, which is also known as the Thompson Drop Table Technique or the Thompson Terminal Point Technique. This chiropractic adjustment technique involves the use of a chiropractic table that has drop sections to help with the adjustment. A specially designed table is used to aid in the adjustment and our chiropractor only has to use a light force to adjust your vertebra. The Thompson technique can be used to adjust the cervical and lumbar vertebrae in order to provide pain relief and lower inflammation around the joint.
The Derifield-Thompson leg test checks for inequality in leg length. Subluxations in the pelvis and cervical vertebrae as well as extreme muscle tightness can result in one leg appearing shorter than the other. Legs may appear shorter in the prone position and with the legs extended, and depending on the findings, our Alexandria chiropractor will determine which joints need to be adjusted.
Our chiropractor in Alexandria offers the Thompson Technique as part of our chiropractic care services to help reduce your neck and back pain. When you come in for your adjustment, our chiropractor will ask about your symptoms and their severity. Then, a Derifield-Thompson leg test will be performed to help identify your misaligned vertebrae.
Prior to your adjustment, our chiropractor will set the Thompson chiropractic table, according to your adjustment needs. Then, a low force thrust will be applied to start the adjustment and trigger the table. The drop section will fall a fraction of an inch to finish the adjustment. This results in a low-thrust, high velocity adjustment that is effective for treating misalignments and helping to reduce your back and neck pain. Most individuals feel some pain relief after their first adjustment, but it may take several adjustments before the benefits become noticeable.
Depending on your injuries, we may recommend other chiropractic care treatments, including massage therapy, acupuncture, cold laser therapy and physical medicine.
